Music
Songs that moved me.
On the worst days, music was the first thing that reached me when words could not. On the best days, it was the engine in my legs, the thing that turned a heavy hour on the bike into something closer to flight. This page is a slow, growing collection of the sounds that helped.
For the dark hours
Quiet records. Piano, strings, voices that do not pretend everything is fine. The kind of music that sits beside you in the room without asking anything in return.
For the road
Long albums for long rides. Repetitive, propulsive, generous with their tempo. I tend to ride to whole records rather than playlists — there is something about a single artist's intention from start to finish that matches the rhythm of a day in the saddle.
A song cannot lift the weight, but it can remind you that someone else has carried it too.
I will be adding playlists, ride-by-ride soundtracks, and short notes on individual records here over time.
Have a song that helped you?
I would love to hear it. The journal is the best place to follow along while this collection grows.
